TRAGEDY HIT NAMUTAMBA WITH THE PASSING ON OF MR. MARTIN
KINENE OF LWEYO.
I grew up seeing Mr. Kinene at Namutamba Teachers' College from 1966. He was a
man around whom nearly every works was rotating around at the College. He was
the Engineer at that place. You could see him supervise the water works, so we
were sure of water. He would be there to see the mowing machines in good
condition both the manual and the power driven, and the compound was always
well maintained.
Mr. Kinene would supervise
and also get involved in the construction works. Here Mr. Makato would also
work hand in hand with him. He was the transport officer and driver of the
College vehicles.
On a number of occasions he took us to and fro school, not only children from Kiwanda but also a number of others.
On a number of occasions he took us to and fro school, not only children from Kiwanda but also a number of others.
It is so sad that
the Almighty God called him.
We thank God for
the care by Maama Kinene, Damali and her
siblings accorded him through sickness. Up to when he breathed his last.
Kitalo nyo
banange.
May his soul rest
in peace
THE FOLLOWING DAY
AFTER THE BURIAL OF MARTIN KINENE, JOHN KIWANUKA THE GUY WHO WAS AWAITED
BEFORE BURIAL OF MARTIN KINENE WAS
PRONOUNCED DEAD AT NAMUTAMBA
HEALTH CENTRE IN THE MORNING HOURS
John Kiwanuka was my classmate in 1973 Primary Seven at
Namutamba Demonstration School. He was a relative of the Kinene family
who stayed with them at Namutamba.
He was one of the best footballers Namutamba Demonstration
School has had. He trained as a Teacher.
He had been in UK since 1996. He had also been helping in financing the
treatment of Martin
Kinene his paternal uncle. When Kinene died,
he requested those concerned to wait for him before burial, he was able to
arrive in time for burial.
I remember when I
went to great him after burial, he asked me whether Herbert Katumba our
classmate was around. I told him that he was. He said he wanted to have a chat
with him. I talked to Henry Katumba who looked for Herbert and I actually saw
both in jovial mood.
Below are some of
the photos I took where John Kiwanuka featured. He is in a checked shirt and
white trouser.
It is so sad.
